Why Brand Identity
Matters

Authority

Founded in 2015 in Akron, The Steel Academy integrates arts, career-based learning, and cutting-edge VR technology across 6 real CTE pathways: Construction, Culinary Arts, Health (CNA), Career Based Intervention, Business & Leadership, and Cosmetology.

Retention

Families stay because Steel Academy offers attention to every student's unique needs, including a nontraditional approach for students with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, or other learning differences — earning School Culture of the Year and multiple Exceeds Standards ratings.

Growth

With current enrollment of 69 against a target of 125 and total capacity of 250, Steel Academy has substantial room to grow. Free public bus passes and year-round, first-come-first-served enrollment remove the biggest barriers for Akron families.

"Transportation takes two buses to get here." — We offer public bus transportation with free bus passes for eligible students, based on location and distance.

"Steel Academy is only a special education school." — This is a misconception. Steel Academy serves everyone, offering a nontraditional approach for students with learning differences alongside a full academic and career program for all.
3
"What are the class sizes?" — Our classes are small, around 25 students in each class, so every student gets real attention.
4
"Will my child fit in socially?" — Our small school environment and clubs — from art and journalism to sports and Magical Theatre — help every student find their place.
5
"Is my child safe here?" — Students go through a handheld metal detector every day, and only clear bookbags and purses are allowed.
